Peasantry

Ciao! I am LECK CHOON LING, no, I'm not italian and yes, I'm scared of heights. But that's not important. I'm (gonna be) SEVENTEEN this year, but I still make a fool of myself. I love music (and dance) and I aspire to major in composing from KOREA. My previous infatuations include MICKY YOOCHUN (DONGBANGSK) and DONG YOUNGBAE TAEYANG (BIGBANG). Currently, my obsession is JANG GEUNSEOK and YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL. Based on my 'O's, I'll probaby go to JC, then University and graduate as a musician (I hope. :)) People say I'm exaggerating, clumsy and loud, but I believe otherwise. (Like, how can I be exaggerating? It's just that I tend to demonstrate what I want to say with a bigger OOMPH, that's all. Oh, and I do like to talk in this manner that is... Okay, forget it. MAYBE I am exaggerating.) I like reading, playing the piano and watching dramas (and comedies and whatnots that apeal to me :)). And I like performing too. I think.
Anyway, you're on this blog because you know me, so do I have to say more? ;)

FINALLY FREE TO BLOG!
(:

Haha,
today was rather eventful.
Sat through a very boring H2 Chemistry lecture which I don't even need to attend
(Cause I don't wanna eat my breakfast alone and stone for one hour before the rest of the people come, hee:))
and everything was so chim!
Avogadro's Constant became 6.02 X 10tothepowerof23
instead of the usual 6 X 10tothepowerof23.
And everything the lecturer talked about seems so familiar,
yet so patronizing.

I'M SO HAPPY I DON'T TAKE CHEMISTRY ANYMORE!!

And to avoid being caught by the lecturer
(since I'm not supposed to be in the lecture hall anyway)
I searched through my bag TWICE for nothing.
It was so -.=
Wah Lim kept laughing *scrunches nose*
Okay, I kept laughing too(:

Then there was this quite friendly girl that sat beside me,
from OG16(:
I was reading one of my CLL prescribed reading material,
鲁迅's 《药》
quite difficult to understand!
Anyway, I talked to her a little.
And she was so hardworking!
Revising her English.
Then when I tried to speak to her in Chinese,
so that it's more comfortable for her,
she insisted on speaking English!
Makes me reflect what I have been doing for the past 16 years :]
If other people can be so hardworking,
why can't I?
(I know the answer though.
Cause I'm lazy! :P)

After lecture, we went to the canteen to eat.
Surprisingly, there were many free tables!
(:

I ate prata and bread.
Then we were talking and talking and talking.
And stoning, haha(:
Wah Lim, Jean Yee, Rebecca, Florence, Yu Ren and I, I mean.

And, sidetrack a little...
YU REN IS A VEGETARIAN TOO! :DD
Happy that someone else in school FINALLY has the same dietary needs as me(;

Both Yu Ren and I went to Prata Hut to buy food,
cause they sell vegetarian dishes.
I like their mee goreng and prata! (:
I haven't tried the fried rice though.
Anyway, I ordered a cheese and potato prata
(Yum yum :D)
and Yu Ren ordered mee goreng.
It's her first time eating it, haha.
BUT...
She can't stand spicy food! :X
Oops.
So in the end she had to drink loads of water while eating the mee goreng.
And the rest koped some of her mee goreng, haha(:
Lighten her distress a little (;

Then it was time for me to head to the AVA room.

(Did I tell you I had a horrible experience finding TB24 yesterday?
The school was like a labyrinth,
and we didn't tour the school much during the orientation.
All of us got very familiar with the hall and parade square though, ha(:
Okay, anyway,
I was going to TB24 for my chinese lang and lit lecture.
TOURED THE WHOLE OF LEVEL TWO A MILLION TIMES, yeesh.
And the TB block is so secluded!
All in all, a horrible experience.
Plus, I WAS LATE! D:)

When I ran around the whole of level2 like a blind idiot,
I passed by loads of rooms.
LUCKILY.
So I didn't have to find very long for the AVA(:

Well, when I got in, there were alot of students there already.
Most probably students from the Lit lecture,
cause straight after lit is history.
And LOL!
The history lecture consisted of a thick pile of notes.
And sitting through an explanation of why the teacher teaching International History was not present.
(He's at reservice, lol!!)
So we left half an hour early,
with two sets of source based homework and a 2000 word essay to finish.
*blanches*

Then there was GP.
VERY BORING, I tell you.
English is supposed to be fun,
but after that lecture...
Haish.
This is the first lecture (that's supposedly in my curriculm)
that I found BORING :P
The rest I found it fun(:
Exclusive of Chemistry though, ha.

At CLL today,
we did a diagnostic test. Thing.
I dunno, it was 再别康桥 and we had to do a reflection.
Yu Bo (Yi Bo??) the girl that sat beside me, wrote ALOT.
She took CLL in secondary school though, so maybe that's why.
BUT IT STILL SCARES ME, lol.
And I think 刘老师 is kinda worried about me, haha :]
I'm not exactly the strongest in chinese, 宣老师 can vouch for that.
And after I handed in my work, and 刘老师 skimmed it through,
guess what she told me?
你要多注意你的错别字!
Why oh why,
do I hear this every year? :/
I guess I needa do something about it.
And I think I have to read 《药》 ten times before the next lesson arrives.
If not I think I'm gonna be lost :X

Well, after CLL, I went to the library to meet the rest of OG13.
OG outing, haha(:
We went to Starbucks;
gossipped alot.
I ate the classic cinammon roll!
DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELICIOUS~
And I shared an Oreo cheesecake with Wah Lim.
OREO CHEESECAKE IS THE BEST DESERT OF ALL TIME, AFTER ICE CREAM!
And I drank hot white chocolate mocha.
(It tastes okay. I prefer DARK MOCHA FRAP!! :DD)

Then we went to town.
Accompanied Yu Ren and Wah Lim to BIBI&BABA in Shaw
(What an interesting name ;D)
then we went to the Lido to watch 'The Blind Side'(:
Too bad Jean Yee left early :(
But the story is really touching,
quite nice.
Not a bad movie to watch.
(:

After the movie, Wei Jun and Jennifer joined us.
Their class ended at 6! :O
Then we went to dinner.
Or rather,
they went to dinner while I went home :(
But nvm,
my mum cooked 姜丝炒鱼 :D
I LOVE IT!
Haha(:

All in all, today was really fun.
Got to know more about OG13,
and realized Hazel and Nurul are actually the same age as us!
:D

AND AND AND AND AND!
I noticed this on the first day of school,
but didn't talk abt it till now.
Charmaine (from Lignum) looks SUPER like Eileen!!
If not for their surnames,
and that I know who are Eileen's siblings,
I'd think they are related!
Lol.

Friday, January 29, 2010 9:09 PM
This is officially the third day as a NJCian.
And it rocks!!
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~ :DD

The first day of orientation was so-so;
we just sat through ALOT ALOT ALOT of talks.
And saw ALOT ALOT ALOT of powerpoint slides.
Not much to talk about.

The second day...
WAS MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER!! :DDDDDDDDDDD
Even though the Students Needs Test was a little lol,
the rest were fine.
I went through round 2 of the Music selection test.
No, not because I wanted to take the Accelerated Music Programme
(there's no such thing-.=)
It's cause my aural was worse than a deaf man and my performing worse than someone handicapped. :(
Disappointed, but...
IT'S OKAY(:

I realized after Music 'O's,
my initial passion for music has evaporated into the thin air.
(My piano teacher is complaining like crazy,
cause I may be the first Diploma student of hers to fail Diploma 1 and jeopardize her teaching history D:)
That's how horrible it is.
I know if I still had that passion,
I'd have passed the selection test.
But since that passion is gone,
well...
Bye bye, Music 'A's~

But as I said,
IT'S OKAY(:
Cause even though I wanted to take a Music degree
(a long long time ago [it seems])
I don't want to anymore.
I wanna do Business Administration,
and be one of those really cool people that work in the Esplanade or in the Sydney Opera House.
:DD

Or be an Arts Agent(:
Just in case you don't know,
if I got into poly, I wanna do the Arts Business Mgt in Ngee Ann.
Hee(:
SO...
Like what I've told many people,
I don't wanna perform music;
I wanna administer it(:

Haha,
if possible, and if I qualify,
I might even take a double degree:
Business Administration with Communication and New Media
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

But for now,
Business Administration.

And lol,
to everyone's expectations,
I failed the KI selection test
(A double 打击 :X)
But I'm fine with it,
cause that means I have more time to concentrate on the rest of my subjects(:
My subject combination?
HECNM :DD
Okay, okay,
I'll say this in English instead of code.
History, Econs, Chinese Language and Literature, Maths(:
All in H2 :D
If I can't take CN,
I'll take English Literature instead.
I think I can cope.
But I want CN, haha(:

Oh, and I made some new friends. (:
There are arnd 15 people from NCHS in NJC,
but people like Jean Yee and what, Joshua etc?
I don't know them that well.
Haha, I'm in the same group as Jean Yee and Joshua(:
OG13 ROCKS!!

Okay, I'll update again soon.
My dad is ordering me around -.=

The worst day of my life...
I LOST ALL INSPIRATION!
grrr.

scratch that.
INSPIRATION FOUND. (:
Monday, January 11, 2010 1:11 AM
O LEVEL RESULTS ARE OUT!!!
i just wanna thank everyone that has helped me through the years,
starting from when i'm in nursery.
it all makes a difference you know. :D
(and my nursery teachers were so nice; i cried like nobody's business
[this is called crying like nobody's business kay, joey? :D]
EVERY SINGLE DAY and they put up with me(:
or i think they did.)

and my results?
i just want to say that i'm happy (and very lucky) to be able to get these results,
and i'm gonna work hard in jc and then uni
and then 到社会造福人群,
in the aim of making the world a better (and happier) place to live in(:

i'll edit my thankyous in a few days,
but first,
to all that have known me, raised me, talked to me and seen me,
THANKYOU!! :DD

FIRST POST OF 2010! :DD
okay, i should have said this four days ago, but
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!! (:
hope that 2010 will turn out to be a year full of GOODWILL
and PLEASANT SURPRISES(:

i've got to admit,
the first 3 days of this year were pretty enriching.
i went to the singapore expo to listen to talks
(together with the rest of the gxy hyper-fanatics)
and we even helped yu de celebrate his birthday there :DD
outside the 'closed' coffee bean, LOL(:
and i think out of the many times i've been to the expo for such talks,
this is the first time i REALLY paid attention to the speaker and understood everything
(okay most)
of what he said.
and by he, i'm referring to 蔡礼旭老师.
it was quite a new experience, i'd say(:

unfortunately,
i can't say the same for the other speakers.
钟茂森博士, i didn't attend his talks.
not that i don't want to, just that i wasn't able to.
i'll elaborate more later.
and for 胡小林伯伯,
i only paid attention to the saturday one.
and only halfway through.
the first day,
i paid attention for a little while,
then i got tired of all the figures he was talking abt.
and the end...
i blocked him out (oops) and started playing with my leg warmers.
okay that sounds like i'm a germic unhygienic ignorant.
i blocked him out and started playing with my leg warmers temporary arm warmers.
but that's not the main point.

the main point is the 三时系念 yesterday!
BOY, WAS IT FULL!!
the whole hall was FILLED with people,
so 'filled to the brim'
that at one glance you can get goosebumps on your hands.
this is seriously the first time i've seen a 三时系念 so crowded! (:
and that's a good thing :D
the bad side of this is that there are VERY VERY VERY few spaces left,
and since i had my piano lesson in the afternoon and i went to work in the morning,
i could only make it in time for 第三时,
which means that there were very limited seats left :(
to top it all off,
leck chi ling, who stayed back home to do her homework
(which comprises of twitter, facebook, blog surfing and youtube. interesting.)
had to follow me there.
she didn't want to go early for the whole thing cause of her homework
(cue: refer to definition of leck chi ling's homework)
so she decided to go with me instead.
at least i had someone to sit with me,
that's one lucky point. :]
(i do try to convince myself ;))

and lol,
after the whole thing ended,
chi and i went to look for my mum.
and then we saw our third aunt
and (blahh blahh blahh blahh blahh)
(fast foward)
we went to find wan ting and brother.
turns out that they had new names for lala's brothers.
wanna guess?
don't laugh.
and don't give me the -.= face.
THEY thought of it!

dipsy and po.

and so we sing
tinkie winkie~
dipsy~
lala~
po~
teletubbies, teletubbies~
say...
E-OH! (:
and wan ting recounted some events to us, that's all(;
(as to what the events are... YOU don't have to know :))

oh,
and i said i'll elaborate more on why i can't attend 钟茂森博士's talk right?
well, actually,
i'm working for my grandmother these days.
my mum is paying me to go help,
so i thought, "why not?"
until i finished one whole day.
it wasn't that it was tiring.
nor was it that it was dirty, smelly and icky ewww.
(fyi, my grandmother works in the wet market selling fruits.
come visit the shop some day(:
let my ahma earn more money :D)
it was that THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO.
except when we 开店 and 关店.
and maybe when my grandma is elsewhere and i have to attend to the customers.
but other than that,
THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO.

don't mock me.
try sitting in a wet market with 6 hours of TIME,
and all you can do is sit there.
and smile at passers-by.
and feel guilty towards the aunty selling vegetables opposite you for taking her chair
so she doesn't have a chair to sit on (if she ever wants to) anymore.
until we leave, that is.
and i have to do NOTHING every morning, from 6 to 12.
oh, THE HORROR!
then, for example yesterday,
i brought some theory papers to do cause i've got a piano lesson in the afernoon.
i planned to finish 2 during my time there.
but no,
cause it was noisy,
and wet,
and sticky,
i couldn't get anything done.
okay,
i did finish 4/5 of one of the 2007 papers,
but seriously,
i planned to do TWO sets of papers.
TWO.
4/5 of 1 means i only completed 2/5 of my supposedly aim.
how terrifying.

and on the first day,
an uncle came to buy apple.
and he kept asking 'are these ___ apples?'
it's like, i don't even understand what he was talking about,
so how am i supposed to answer him?
and just right at this moment,
my ahma is in the restroom!
so typical.
and ironic.

so the aunty selling vegetables opposite me that i feel guilty to helped me,
cause she knows it's my first day at the market.
she told me my ahma sells the apples at $3.50 per packet/bundle/whatever-you-call-it,
so i said the same to that uncle.
then he said 'i rmbered it was $3'
like i was supposed to let him buy it for $3.
well, i didn't.
and then he paid me,
and (silly me!) i forgot to put the apples in the plastic bag for him.
so he stood there looking at me while i kept the money
and after i kept the money i realized he was still there.
then he said something like '你不用给我纸带吗?'
then i realized that i didn't give him the apples AND the plastic bag.
OH, HOW EMBARRASSING!!!
then he said '你这样子做不了生意的'
and then i realized.
HE WAS THE SAME UNCLE THAT CAME WHEN I DID YIGONG AT THE EXPO
AND TOLD ME
你这样子做不了生意的 -.=
grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
i want to bang my head on the wall.
cause, like a complete idiot,
i let that uncle say that the SECOND time to me.
and i believe he recognises me too,
seeing that he said
你这样子做不了生意的,
like how the previous one (HIM!!) did.
i can almost confirm that it's this uncle alright.

i mean,

yeah, so i was wrong,
but you don't HAVE to tell me the same thing twice right?
huh.

or mayb i'm being unfair to him.

i WAS wrong,
that i acknowledge and admit.
but now that i think of it,
this is HILARIOUS i tell you.
like those random scenes you see in movies that are so random you just wanna laugh.
like the crow and the cat in 'sherlock holmes' :DD
(oh yeah,
REALLY GOOD MOVIE! WITTY, FUNNY AND SUSPENSE ALL IN ONE :DD)

okay, i should go update my not-yet-opened-but-already-dead-and-untouched photoblog.
i'm gonna update all the kuching stuffs there,
and blog there as well,
so i've decided i won't edit my previous post,
the one that i was gonna edit and lengthen and show joey that it wasn't long (;
i'll blog soon!
(and the trip to the zoo,
i'll blog at my photoblog too :DD)
-choon.bootslandiist that is working at a wet market to save money for the YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL DIRECTOR CUT DVD that's so awesome and cool and what she really wants right now.

(p.s-
我昨天开了小悟 :D
(do i sound a little like cai laoshi? ;DD)
i realized that playing the piano is not about performing a song.
it's telling a story,
in a language that YOU should know and be well familiar with.
and it's like difficult game,
not attractive on the outside but in truth,
once you KNOW how to play the game well and master it,
by george, you would demonstrate and enjoy the story well :]
hope i can do it! (:
no.
I CAN!! (:
i hope.)

Wednesday, December 23, 2009 6:47 PM
OKAY,
i'm here to post(:
but i'm going to malaysia (again) afterwards,
muar this time,
so the post won't be very very very very very long,
like my previous ones.
also because these few days,
i've been trying to upload pictures onto my newly created photoblog,
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..
haven't found the time (or strength) to blog about KUCHING!! <33333>

well,
first of all,
there's only one word to describe this time's kuching trip:
AWESOME! :DDDDDDDDDDDD
i've learnt alot,
about planning events,
about teaching,
about my dear friends went up together on the 9th(:
and of course those that went up on the 14th(;
i'll elaborate next time?

and the 亲子营 families that came up on the 15th.
one word:
WOW.
they were very enthusiastic
(even more so after i left, from what i heard from eelyn and wanting anw)
and i was sad to leave :( :( :( :( :(
i'll elaborate again next time,
after i come back.

in case you haven't noticed,
i'm rather in a rush.
going off to m'sia AGAIN in an hour's time -.=
(to attend a long-distance relative's wedding, lol.)

i wanted to stay in singapore to welcome the rest back,
but unfortunately can't.
don't miss me kay?
i'll be back tomorrow :DD

and oh yeah,
there's another word i can use to describe the trip this time:
MOVING.
this is particularly accentuated on the 16th,
when i left the temple with my family to the BORNEO HIGHLANDS JUNGLE CLUB
(did i mention the place is SOOOOOOOO COOL? :DD)
moved to tears, literally *bashful*
cause imagine you were me,
about to leave the temple with a very prejudiced father on his birthday.
imagine you didn't want to leave. AT ALL.
imagine your dad, a little angry, a little impatient, a little too much to bear.
then your teachers
(and yes, i do mean teachers. even hwaleng jj ;))
offered to give your dad a cake.
they were so excited about the whole surprise.
they hurried you down to the kitchen,
gave you some lotte choco pies and pastries and crafted a 'cake' for your father.
yes, candles included.
and they put in sooooooo muuuuuuuuuuuuuch just for a surprise meant for someone that doesn't in the least want to reciprocate.
(or maybe he does, but i don't know about it.)
and then they get your friends down to shield the cake,
really enhance the surprise.
and then when you reach the car porch,
they sang out a loud happy birthday song to your father.
the man that didn't even want to be here in the first place.
wouldn't you be touched?
moved to tears?
(okay,
sidenote:
if you totally have a heart made of steel, then you probably won't be moved.
you just think its lame and will want to get over it quickly.
for those that got a little moved, a little warmed from all of these little little details,
well,
I UNDERSTAND :])

and that's not all.
joey and the rest even prepared a song!!
FOR ME!!
gosh,
who can NOT CRY in that situation is a plain rock.
and a very horrible stubborn weird looking one, at that.
and they even sang the song that i hated,
the one that always made me cry on departure.
i was gushing a waterfall down my face that day.
i'm not kidding.

okay,
i'll elaborate next time,
i promise.
and those that are WAITING for my photos...
I'M TERRIBLY SORRY!!!
(i guess i must point out...
uploading photos onto wordpress or flickr or any other site is just TEDIOUS.
and it didn't help matters that the laptop kept rebooting.
can't wait till i get my own one.)

when i finally finish uploading the photos
(and puttng captions, and such)
you can find it here:
http://iamachoonbrush.wordpress.com/
i'm only going to post on facebook AFTER i settle this photoblog.
grrrrrrrrrrr.

okay,
so post you tmr!
(or perhaps on saturday, cause i may come back at night tmr.
WHO KNOWS?!<:/)
-bootslandiist that is very frustrated with slideroll's gallery that didn't save whatever i did all this morning.

p.s- (in advance) MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!! FELIZ NAVIDAD!! :DDDDD
